Timeshare In America
Beginning in the 1960's, timeshares were created to help lower the cost of hotels in vacation destination areas. People were able to purchase a share of a hotel instead of renting a room for the week. It enabled people to visit many destinations that might not normally be cost effective.
Throughout the 1970's with the Cold War raging and fuel crisis cropping up throughout the decade, the timeshare industry was a savior for those who wanted to vacation. In the 1980's, many more people were traveling with the availability of more money flow because of the computer revolution and booming stock market. Timeshares were very popular. Today, many people may be saying, "I want to sell my timeshare" for the extra cash since the economy is heading southward.
What is a Timeshare?
A timeshare is a property that is leased or jointly owned by multiple people that schedule to use the property at specified times throughout the year. Generally, a timeshare is located near a resort or vacation destination. If I wanted to sell my timeshare, I could contact the parent company, let them know and they would handle the rest. It is not difficult to buy into and sell a timeshare.
Timeshare Vs Hotel
Timeshares are usually in the best locations at any vacation destination. When you book a hotel room, you have less opportunity of having the ultimate room with a good view of the spot you have chosen. Hotels, too, can advertise and show you only a portion of the accommodations, leaving out the poor characteristics of the place you will stay. You may be surprised at your accommodations, whereas, you generally know what you will be getting with a timeshare.
Advantages of Timeshare
- Timeshares are usually in the best locations at any vacation destination.
- With timeshare, you have high opportunity of having the ultimate room with a good view of the spot you have chosen.
- You generally know what you will be getting with a timeshare.
- Another advantage of having a timeshare is that you will have somewhere to go for your vacation week or two during the year.
Disadvantages of Timeshare
-The disadvantage is that you may not get to the place you really want to be, if you don't put your bid in soon enough, you may wait years to get where you really want to be.
